Category Manager - CAPEX & MRO

This is a field-based role that requires travel across our sites, with your contract based at our Slough Head Office. Additionally, occasional travel to our Intersnack European offices will be required.

This is a key position within our Intersnack Procurement team (the group behind KP Snacks), with high visibility and close collaboration with the director level of the Intersnack Group. The Category Manager CAPEX is responsible for capital equipment, building, infrastructure and services, from manufacturers across the globe at the best conditions possible. He/she is permanently in contact with our CAPEX suppliers and other sources of market intelligence to offer competitive propositions to our customers, the Operating Companies of the Intersnack Group. Initiating cost savings, identifying risks, tracking the portfolio positions, and supporting the category strategy plans are also key responsibilities of the position.

What will you be doing? 

The Category Manager is responsible to support the Senior Category Manager to draft, negotiate and implement the CAPEX sub-categories strategy and contracts, handles any issues or problems with suppliers that are beyond the scope/expertise of the local procurement and acts as direct support to Senior Category Manager and the KP Engineering Team.

 

The Category Manager decides on internal sourcing strategies in collaboration with the relevant Category Manager EU and the Senior Category Manager. This is based on volume concentration, best price evaluation, global sourcing, product specification improvement, joint process improvement, business relationship restructuring based on supplier performance and evaluation.

 

The Category Manager supports the Senior Category Manager and the other Category Managers in the budgeting and forecasting functions but is not solely responsible for budgeting.

  • Manage and support the CAPEX & MRO designated sub-categories for Intersnack Procurement, as well as act the Procurement point of contact for Capex in UK and other Indirects categories as required.

  • Responsibility for tactical and strategic sourcing for defined countries and categories and support the function of operational buying at the local OpCo level.

  • Principal communicator of policy and strategy between Intersnack Procurement and the local OpCos for their categories.

  • Act as the global expert for the wider Indirects team in terms of Opco collaboration with the Intersnack Procurement team and designated Capex suppliers.

  • Provide high level analytical support on complex databases that is needed for strategy development, tracking of compliance to strategy and delivery of savings and bonus.

  • Lead the supplier meeting / reviews following specific KPIs for commercial & operational subjects.

  • Lead Supplier negotiations, project kick-off meetings and support during FAT / SAT phases of Capex projects in the UK.

  • Advance and foster close working relationship with key stakeholders, being the linking pin with KP Engineering.

  • Deliver Intersnack Group objectives in terms of cost, quality, service, and innovation.

  • Promote and manage a robust supplier base to secure the Intersnack Procurement targets for compliance and reporting.

  • Responsibility for implementation of sustainable processes, compliance requirements and category strategy.

  • Ensures security of supply and special requisitions, especially regarding local requirements.

Job requirements

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, CIPS qualified, or strong relevant business experience, with 4+ years in procurement—preferably in engineering-related procurement.

  • Strategic Procurement & Contract Management: Proven ability to handle and negotiate multi-million Euro contracts across Europe, with expertise in contract drafting, management, and commercial negotiations to drive business success.

  • Project & Capex Management: Experienced in managing complex projects, including Capex installations, supply chain, and warehouse management, ensuring efficient operational execution.

  • Stakeholder & Change Management: A proactive and assertive team player with excellent communication skills, capable of managing stakeholders effectively and driving change in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment.

  • Technical & Mobility Requirements: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), comfortable with frequent UK travel, and holds a valid driving license.
